The Portuguese Society of Nova Scotia celebrates the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima to the three children shepherds (Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco), every year on the week of May 13th. At St. Pauls Church, 199 Windmill Road, Dartmouth, NS, Canada.
We celebrate with Holy Mass and the Rosary in Portuguese and English. These celebrations end on Sunday with the Celebration of Holy Mass that starts at 2:00pm and is followed by an outdoor procession at 3:00pm, returning to church for prayers to the Blessed Sacrament.
Afterwards we have a small reception, downstairs at the auditorium, with election of a new committee for next year’s celebrations.
On Saturday we have an arraial (open air fair) at our Club Building and grounds. Usually it starts at 10:00am with typical Portuguese foods, dances and sale of sweets, arts and crafts, games, etc.
We end with a dance from 9:00pm to 1 or 2:00am.
This is a traditional celebration known as “FATIMA DAYS” organized by the Fatima Committee and always taking place at St. Pauls Church in Dartmouth.
We cordially invite everyone to participate in these festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Fatima. |
